2 dead in Laguna shootout

LAGUNA, Philippines – Two carjacking suspects were killed in an alleged shootout with police officers in Barangay Malitlit in Sta. Rosa yesterday.
Inspector Roselle Orate, Laguna police spokesperson, said they have yet to identify the suspects, who are believed to be members of a syndicate based here.
Police recovered two guns and the motorcycle that the suspects were riding.
Joshua Amador, 19, a resident of Barangay Sinalhan reported to the police that the suspects stole his motorcycle while it was parked in front of Lettyis Bar along J.P. Rizal Boulevard in Barangay Tagapo at around 12:20 a.m.
The suspects engaged responding policemen in a shootout as they fled toward Barangay Malitlit, said Senior Superintendent Florendo Saligao, acting Laguna police director.
