'Yolanda' survivor passes nursing exam

MANILA, Philippines – A typhoon Yolanda survivor from Palo, Leyte triumphed against tragedy and fulfilled a lifelong dream.
Francis Mendiola, one of the thousands displaced by Typhoon Yolanda in the Visayas, received a bit of good news when he passed the Nursing Board Exam.
The 23-year-old Mendiola used to live in Palo, Leyte with his family, but like many others, their house was swept away by the storm surge.
His father and three other relatives died in Yolanda’s onslaught. News Now, ANC, January 19, 2014.
