Retial giant Bench is beginning the year with a humanitarian campaign. It will help about 100 fishing families in Ormoc, Leyte, who had been displaced by Supertyphoon “Yolanda” last November.

Bench is providing more than 6,000 bancas to these families so they can resume their livelihood.

Leyte Rep. Lucy Torres-Gomez is not only an endorser of Bench, she and husband Richard Gomez are also close family friends of Ben Chan, the man behind the global brand Bench.

Gomez was among the first actors to establish their mark in promoting a fashion brand. His video for Bench has become one of the iconic ads of Philippine retail.

Since the storm surge destroyed a good part of Ormoc, the hometown of Lucy, the couple have been leading relief efforts. Now they are at the forefront of the rehabilitation work of Leyte.
