AKLAN, Philippines -- A RORO vessel ran aground at Barangay Argao, in Aklan province of central Philippines, on Sunday morning, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said.
The vessel, M/V Starlite Atlantic, was docked at Caticlan Jetty Port when strong waves unclenched its anchor. Then the docked RORO vessel drifted to a nearby village.
There was no casualty as nobody was on board the docked vessel, said a PCG official.
The vessel usually transports passengers from nearby Mindoro Island to Caticlan and vice versa. Many of its passengers were tourists bound to Boracay, one of the most popular beach attractions in the country.
PCG is conducting investigation on the said incident.
This was the second maritime accident in the region reported on Sunday. A cargo vessel anchored at the port of Iloilo sank early Sunday morning due to bad weather.
