PCSO allocates P232M to LGUs hosting lotto - Manila Bulletin

The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) has allocated a total of P232,624,129.57 to local government units (LGUs) hosting lotto outlets for the period from July to December 2013.

In a statement, PCSO General Manager Jose Ferdinand M. Rojas II said the amount will be allocated as follows: National Capital Region, P75,430,036.79; Northern and Central Luzon, P27,817,691.87; Southern Tagalog and Bicol Region, P43,511,119.59; Visayas, P54,480,527.30; and Mindanao, P31,384,754.02.

“We are reminding the LGU payees to claim their lotto share cheques, if they have not already done so, from the PCSO branch office nearest you or from the PCSO Head Office in Manila,” Rojas said.

Its charter mandates the PCSO to allocate thirty percent of net receipts from lotto operations to a Charity Fund for medical and healthcare-related programs.

Executive Order No. 357 issued in 1996 mandates that five percent of the PCSO Charity Fund is granted to LGUs where lotto outlets are located.

“To the LGUs where there are few or no lotto outlets, we encourage you to host PCSO’s outlets so that you can avail of the LGU shares that you may use for your area’s social programs,” Rojas said.
