Bola-Bola Filipino Meatballs Recipe

Meatballs are small amount of ground meat (e.g. pork, beef, lamb, chicken, turkey, seafood) that are shaped or rolled into small balls. Usually, other ingredients like spices, vegetables, bread crumbs, flour, and eggs are added or mixed to the ground meat before being formed or shaped in balls, normally rolled by hand. The meatballs are then fried, baked, grilled, steamed, braised, or whatever cooking method a particular cooking tradition would like to use. Meatballs can be directly eaten as is, or be added to other dishes such as soups and noodles.
All over the world, almost all cooking traditions have their own names and version of meatballs. In the Philippines, Filipino meatballs are called Bola-Bola. Traditionally, it is prepared by mixing the ground beef or pork (or combination) with onion, garlic, salt and pepper, soy sauce, eggs, flour or breadcrumbs. Sometimes, carrots and turnip (singkamas) are added to the mixture as extenders. On special occasions,Philippine meatballs or Bola-Bola are served in the dining table as starters or main entree menu with homemade gravy, sweet and sour sauce, or plain catsup as dipping. Filipino meatballs are commonly added with Misua Soup and Philippine style Spaghetti.
Ingredients:
1 Kilo ground pork or beef
1 Onion; minced
1 Tablespoon garlic; minced
3 Well beaten eggs
1/2 Cup flour
Salt
Ground pepper
Soy sauce
Tomato catsup
Instructions:
1. In a bowl, mix all ingredients. Season with salt, soy sauce, and pepper according to taste.
2. Form a ball 1” diameter out of the mixture.
3. Deep fry the meat balls until golden brown.
4. Drain in a plate with paper towel and serve with tomato Ketchup.
