Tropical Storm Basyang (Kajiki) knocked out power in parts of the Visayas even as repair crews worked to restore electricity to the affected areas.
In posts on its Twitter account, the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines said power was out in Panay and Capiz in Western Visayas.

"NGCP is working to restore power transmission services to parts of ILECO II & III and ANTECO (in Panay)," it said.

Citing initial reports, the NGCP said the Panit-an-Sara and Panit-an Natividad 69kV lines serving ILECO 3 tripped at 1:35 and 3:52 a.m. respectively.

Also, the Dingle-Passi 69kV serving ILECO II tripped at 1:00 a.m. and Miag-ao-Sibalom 69kV line serving ANTECO tripped at 12:57 a.m.

"Strong winds and rains prevail in the area," it said.

In Capiz, the NGCP said it is trying to restore power transmission services to parts of CAPELCO, after the Panit-an-Roxas 69kV line tripped at 4 a.m. due to strong winds and rain.

Meanwhile, the NGCP said it has restored transmission services to parts of Southern Leyte, Leyte, and Bohol after re-energizing the Ormoc-Maasin-Ubay 138kV Line at 4:37 a.m.
