Large crowd trooped the Ormoc Alay Lakad 2013

Ormoc City POlice Office, October 14, 2013 - Policemen joined the Ormoc Alay Lakad 2013 City Social Welfare Development Office led youth program with the Ormoc Kiwanis Club as host with the theme: “Lakad Bayan Para Sa Kapayapaan,” Saturday 6 a.m. October 12, 2013. Over a thousand participants trooped the outskirt streets of Ormoc City to walk to attract young people and Out of School Youth- education and skills development, parental guidance and social welfare intervention. The Alay Lakad which have been government program since 1972 enable less fortunate young people get education and developed livelihood skills in tailoring, dress making, welding and automotive and food preparation, among others offered student scholars supervised by the social welfare services office.
The program now is better enhanced by TESDA that have institutionalized skills program of the government that have produced significant number of skilled human resources that climbed global impact sending them abroad making them dollar earners. The Alay Lakad program stimulates to pool fund to support the less fortunate, street children and young people primarily to afford them basic education and half way houses that prepares them to develop skills and livelihood to become productive segment of the community which is quite a “noble human cause” pointed City councilor Honorable Tommy Serafica, Saturday.
Police participation to the activity is its popular support to watch the welfare and future of the young people and to rescue them from falling victim to juvenile delinquency, abuse, drug addiction and other social problem earmarked of the young people, said OCPO director PSSUPT ELIZAR PATANO EGLOSO, Alay Lakad Walk Committee Chairman.
