WHEN the fight of the century was finally announced a couple of weeks back, one of the things I wanted to know was how the lead-up to the fight would be covered by traditional media both from the US and from the Philippines.
In Manny Pacquiao’s previous fights, Bob Arum arranged for multi-city press tours to announce his fights to generate as much publicity as possible. But listening to the same answers to the same questions in a new city turned off guys from the wire agencies that they only bothered to send a crew to the initial press conference.
