PNoy's spokespersons ride MRT, LRT during rush hour - GMA News

(Updated 8:41 p.m.) President Benigno Aquino III's spokespersons took the challenge for public officials to ride the Metro Rail Transit (MRT) during rush hour on Monday morning.

Secretary Edwin Lacierda and Undersecretary Abigail Valte took the challenge one step further by also riding the Light Rail Transit (LRT) Line 1.

According to her Twitter posts, Valte rode the entire MRT line with Lacierda from North Avenue in Quezon City to Taft Avenue in Pasay City.

The Palace officials lined up at the North Avenue station at 8:24 on Monday morning, and were able to ride the train more than 40 minutes later.

Valte also shared that she was able to get a seat at the Ayala station in Makati, and then got off at Taft Avenue station by 9:41 a.m.—more than an hour after she lined up.

Lacierda and Valte also transferred to the LRT Line 1, whose EDSA station connects to the MRT Taft Avenue station. They disembarked at the Central Station in Manila.

"[I] appreciate all the commuters who bear with the service on a daily basis. We continue to ask for your understanding as we continue to push for improvements," Valte tweeted.

Last Friday, Senator Grace Poe also rode the MRT in preparation for the ongoing Senate probe on the mass transport system. Andreo Calonzo/KBK, GMA News
