PAGASA: Overcast with rain over Bicol, Mimaropa and Visayas - GMA News

A tropical cyclone approaching from the east may enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Saturday evening, weather service PAGASA said.

PAGASA forecaster Connie Dadivas said on dzBB radio that the cyclone, internationally codenamed Neoguri, was 1,410 km east-northeast of Virac, Catanduanes as of 4 a.m.

The Japan Meteorological Agency as of 2:50 a.m. Saturday (PHL time) classified Neoguri as a typhoon.

Once Neoguri enters the Philippine Area of Responsibility, it will be locally codenamed Florita.

But, even though Neoguri is still outside the PAR, it would enhance the southwest monsoon, bringing light to moderate rain to the Visayas, Mimaropa, the Bicol region, and areas of Mindanao.

Metro Manila, meanwhile, will be partly cloudy to cloudy, with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms. Joel Locsin/DVM, GMA News
