Enrile surrenders following Sandigan's arrest order. Sen. Juan Ponce Enrile on Saturday thanked the Philippine National Police for according him courteous treatment on his first night of detention at the PNP General Hospital in Camp Crame Friday.
Enrile said he was treated well by the police after he surrendered at Camp Crame after the Sandiganbayan ordered his arrest on graft and plunder charges related to the P10-billion pork barrel scam, radio dzBB's Manny Vargas reported.
The 90-year-old senator was brought to the Asian Eye Institute in Makati City early Saturday. He was brought back to Camp Crame after undergoing a medical procedure.
No relative was seen with Enrile in going to the Makati facility, the dzBB report said.
Enrile, in an interview with reporters, said his right eye was treated to address macular degeneration, which if not treated properly could lead to blindness.
The dzBB report quoted Enrile's staff as saying his blood pressure as of early Saturday was 172 over 82, a slight improvement from the 200 over 90 readings shortly after he surrendered to the PNP late Friday.
