Army soldiers, Metrobank to distribute fishing boats, engine to fisherfolks in E. Samar

TACLOBAN CITY, Leyte, April 28 (PIA) -- At least 150 fishing boats together with engine gasoline are set to be distributed on Tuesday April 29, this year to some fisherfolks in Eastern Samar who have lost their means of livelihood during the onslaught of super typhoon Yolanda last year.


Major Lemuel A. Baduya of the 801st Infantry Brigade of the Philippine Army said, the distribution is in line with the “Banka ng buhay, Bunga ng Bayanihan Project” of the TOPSOLDIERS, 801st Infantry (Bantay at Gabay) Brigade, 7th Civil Relations Group in partnership with the Metrobank Foundation Incorporated and the local government units of the municipalities of Guiuan, Balangiga and Lawaan, all in Eastern Samar.


This collaborative effort of the soldiers and the abovementioned private entities show their concern to the survivors of Yolanda to enable them to regain their means of living and boost the economic activities of the local communities in said areas.


To ensure the success of this endeavor, a ceremonial signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) will be conducted at Guiuan Eastern Samar on that same day.


The simple MOA signing will be attended by Mr. Aniceto M. Sobrepena, President of Metrobank Foundation Incorporated, Major General Romeo Poquiz, President of TOPSOLDIERS and the local chief executives of the three Municipalities in Eastern Samar .(PIA-8)
