5.4 magnitude quake strikes off Ilocos Norte

MANILA, Philipines - A magnitude 5.4 earthquake struck off Burgos, Ilocos Norte on Monday morning.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the quake struck at 8:43 a.m., 169 kilometers northwest of Burgos town.
The quake, which was tectonic in origin, has a depth of 34 kilometers.
It was felt at Intensity 2 in Laoag City.
Phivolcs said it was expecting aftershocks.
