BACOLOD CITY, Philippines — A plastic warehouse at Araneta Highway, Barangay Tangub of this city, was razed by a two-hour fire yesterday morning.
The city's Bureau of Fire Protection had a hard time putting off the fire, which broke out at around 11:30 a.m., since the warehouse contained flammable materials, including plastic and cloth.
According to Chief Insp. Bartolome Beliran, BFP Marshall, they are still determining the cause of the incident. He said though that there was an ongoing construction in the area.
The welding may have started the fire, he added.
Meanwhile, Mayor Monico Puentevella said that the damage of the fire may have reached P5 million, adding that the warehouse was owned by Christopher Co.
The mayor reminded the public anew on fire safety, saying that the city government has been conducting series of seminars and information drive to avoid the same incidents. — (FREEMAN)
