Some classes in Manila were suspended on Saturday due to the expected heavy traffic from the Iglesia ni Cristo's World Wide Walk.
Among the universities that suspended their classes are: University of the Philippines-Manila, University of Sto. Tomas, Far Eastern University-Manila, Colegio de San Juan de Letran in Intramuros, and the Philippine Women’s University.
On Friday, some schools announced suspension of their Saturday classes in anticipation of the heavy traffic the charity walk might create.
The Iglesia Ni Cristo had explained that its Worldwide Walk was "for those affected by Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan)."
Earlier, the Manila Police District issued a traffic advisory warning of heavy traffic throughout the city from 4 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday.
It advised motorists heading to Quiapo taking España route to instead use A.H. Lacson, Dapitan, Andalucia, Fugoso, and Rizal Avenue; or Lacson straight to Nagtahan.
