Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada met with Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista and Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas where a revised day truck ban scheme in the capital city was discussed amidst protest from various truckers groups.
In the recent meeting, Bautista said that the city government of Manila agreed to the proposed
adjusted window hour of 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. where loaded trucks may ply the routes of Manila to make their desired trips. However, empty trucks will only be allowed to ply their routes at night.
Bautista added that trucks will not be allowed to park in the roads of Manila as adjacent towns like Navotas vowed to enforce the no parking rule once the cargo trucks reach their jurisdiction.
“We hope to find a win-win solution to impass with the best interest of our country’s economy and image in mind,’’ Bautista said.
He also cited Estrada for “having an open mind’’ in accommodating the appeal of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA). (Chito A. Chavez)
