TACLOBAN CITY, Leyte, Feb.19 (PIA) – The City Government of Tacloban is inviting businessmen to open for more business as it slowly recovering the aftermath of super typhoon Yolanda.

In the recently concluded Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC) Meeting held at Leyte Sports Development Center, this city, Tacloban’s City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer Frederick Anido has admitted that the city is still far from the status it has before Yolanda wrought havoc in November followed by the rampant looting incidents in most business establishments, including Robinson’s mall and Gaisano Store.

However, despite the vast destruction Yolanda had caused to the city, officials and residents are optimistic that Tacloban, being the center of the region, will return to its previous status where businesses are booming.

Anido claimed that ninety (90) percent of the people living in the city are businessmen and employees.

Hence, the city’s income is more dependent on taxes from trade and businesses operating within the city.

Of the 6, 296 businesses operating before Yolanda struck the city, a close to only 20 percent or 1, 292 businesses have reopened. (PIA-8)
