Tarlac City willing to adopt 300 ‘Yolanda’ survivors

The city government led by Mayor Ace Manalang is also willing to adopt the survivors of Super Typhoon Yolanda from Leyte and Samar and extend the help they need now especially the children and youth, City Administrator Necito Chua said yesterday. Chua said he couldn’t express what he feels right now after he personally witnessed the total devastation in Visayas region due to the onslaught of the killer typhoon. He went to Bacolod City over the weekend to deliver the initial donations they have collected from city hall officials and employees for the killer typhoon victims. “Sa Bacolod na namin isinama at ipinakisuyo ang aming donation dahil mahirap daw ang pagpunta sa Leyte,” he said.

“They asked me, ‘Galing pa kayo sa Tarlac? Ang layo ng pinanggalingan ninyo!’ I replied walang malayo sa mga taga-Tarlac, kahit biktima kami ng Bag-yong Santi, mas mabuti ang aming kalagayan at gusto naming tumulong,” Chua said. The city administrator disclosed that as of now, donations and all kind of assistance are coming in to Visayas from almost every places, here and abroad, to aid and sympathize with the victims but what captured his attention are the victims themselves.

He said that other regions could help these survivors by temporarily adopting them. Chua stated that Tarlac City is more than willing to do the temporary adoption from six months to two years. “We can adopt as many as 300 orphaned survivors,” he said.
