Ormoc police monitors threatened villages
Do you like this story?
ORMOC City Police Office Director Senior Superintendent Elizar Egloso said that despite the peaceful atmosphere in the city, the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Philippine Army will continue monitoring the threatened uphill villages.
Egloso identified the threatened uphill villages as Liberty, Gaas, Lake Danao, Cabintan, Hugpa, Mahayahay and Mabini, where there were reports of sightings of left-leaning groups. The police also established a City Election Monitoring Action Center (Cemac) to keep open communications with Colonel Rafael Valencia, 802nd Brigade Commander, and Ormoc Comelec Officer lawyer Karen Cajipo.
The declaration of non-partisan for this year’s barangay election could be a reason for the absence of intense political rivalry, Egloso said. The police are preparing to ensure that no inevitable incidence will occur, Egloso said.
