Man caught cheating in ‘tong-its’ shot

For allegedly cheating in a card game locally known as tong-its, a construction worker was shot dead while attending a wake in barangay Luz, Cebu City Monday noon. Police identified the victim as Armando Sosmenia, a native of Ormoc City.

The alleged assailant identified as Ramel Awman fled after the incident. Police said the two men had an argument the night before the attack after the suspect caught the victim cheating in their card game. The suspect got mad as he lost in that game.

Police said a wounded Sosmenia was able to run to his rented room after he was shot. He was later brought to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center but was declared dead on arrival.
