Information to Empower Filipinos Eastern Visayas conducts humanitarianmission to earthquake-stricken Bohol




The Eastern Visayas Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council is set to conduct a humanitarian mission to earthquake-stricken Bohol on October 31 –November 3, 2-13. RDRRMC Chairman and Office of Civil Defense Director Rey Gozon said a humanitarian team has been formed and all set to go bringing with them not only relief goods but taking with them human resources and material resources which are the actual needs of Bohol.

The need were identified as Mental Health and Psycho Social Support Team; Personnel for data gathering; Relief Teams; Water Filtration Systems; Demountable tents for evacue es and for hospital patients with side walls; Portalets; Food; Relief goods; Bottled Water; and Medicines. In a meeting held on October 29 at Ritz Tower de Leyte, the member agencies both government and private, have identified the team and the goods that will be brought to Bohol by the said humanitarian team.

Director Gozon said that the Provincial Board Members of the Philippines Leyte Chapter pledged to send mineral water, food and relief goods based on the identified needs. Access 5, a non-government communications group will send several of their members for data gathering and reporting. The OCD, 8th Infantry Division of the Philippine Army, the Department of Public Works and Highways will also deploy their staff to help in the relief operations and other relief works.

Meanwhile, Director Gozon called on the other RDRRMC members who would like to send their relief goods or donations to course through the same care of the EV RDRRMC humanitarian team.
