Police assists removing electrocuted young man in Brgy. Linao, Ormoc City


Ormoc City Police Office, August 23, 2013 - A 17 year old Out of School Youth, resident of Purok 9 in Brgy. Linao, Ormoc City accidentally got electrocuted by a LEYECO electric service live drop wire while conversing with this friend atop roof in the latter’s resident, 7 p.m. Thursday August 22, 2013. Responding police led by Ormoc City Police Station 3 PCInsp Edgardo Agravante Encina along PSInsp Harris Rebato and elements of OCPS3 disclosed they managed to assist the removal of the victim identified by witnesses as that of Christian Sabucedo from the scene of the accident by cutting off the power current and helped rush the body of the fatality to the Ormoc District Hospital (ODH) which attending physicians unfortunately declared dead on arrival.

To avoid accidents, reminders of health care providers and powerline operators of cables and electric wires should be taken heed of by the public, says OCPO investigation chief, PCInsp Virgilio Bayon-on.
Police said dangerous service drop wire suspiciously hanging and disturbing should be immediately reported to police authorities, who could facilitate the coordination of fixing the wires with the electric companies. These wires are live, hazardous and dangerous to children and adults. It should be immediately conferred to authorized electricians and power line men to get it fixed. Light and electric current does good service to humanity. But it can be the worst of man’s enemy. It can kill. And also ignite fire, raze down to ashes flammable light materials made into dwellings.

The electric wires or cables should not be touched. It should be avoided from getting touched, leaned and rubbed from, particularly metals and light flammable materials, as it could already be worn out; and start to ignite or conduct current on wet moisture or water nearby and electrocute just anyone. Any irregular hanging service drop wires should be reported immediately to police authorities for the safety of the public and the community, says PCR chief, Police Superintendent Ma. Elma B. Delos Santos.
