P4-M Pagsanga-an flood control structure soon completed

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Leyte Fourth Engineering District (4th LED) will soon complete the ongoing construction and improvements of the Pagsanga-an flood control structure in Barangay Liloan along Ormoc-Merida-Isabel-Palompon road in Ormoc City.

District Engineer Lino Gonzales said the contractor, the Norsam Builders & Construction Supply, found it hard to complete the project due to the high water level brought by recent rains.

Also, the contractor had a hard time mobilizing its equipment, particularly the truck that mounted the 6.0 meter concrete piles.

The construction of the Pagsanga-an River Control, which took off last March 26, 2013, had a contract cost of P4,000,000 taken from the DPWH CY2013 budget.

The structure, which is along the national road, is one of the top priorities of the Department and expected to benefit some 1,000 households. Said project is anticipated to save lives and properties during times of calamities.
