The Island of Canigao
Do you like this story?

Canigao Island is a small island along Canigao Channel. It’s so small you can go around it in about 20-30 minutes of leisurely walk. Its assets: beautiful white sand and clear waters. You can rent a cottage or you can pitch your tent for free here. No one lives on this island, but there are caretakers for the cottages.
How to get there: Take a bus or van from Maasin or Tacloban to either Bato or Matalom town — an hour from Maasin and 3 hours from Tacloban. From Brgy. Nonok, Matalom, take a pump boat (costs about P300-400 back and forth for the whole boat, or Php45 per person) to the island. The boat ride is about 20 minutes.
