9 charged for Masbate massacre

LEGAZPI CITY, Philippines  – Nine persons, one of them a wanted man, have been charged for the killing of a mining financier, his son and bodyguard in Aroroy, Masbate.

One of those charged was identified as Randy Ogad, allegedly one of the armed men who shot dead Jesus Amaro, his son Gilbert and their driver Ricky Almodiel at their home in Barangay Luy-a on April 5.

Police have yet to identify the eight other suspects.

The charges – robbery with multiple homicide and car theft – were filed with the Masbate prosecutor’s office yesterday.

The complaint against Ogad was supported by a sworn statement of a witness who identified him from the rogues’ gallery of the Bicol police.

Records showed Ogad has a standing arrest warrant for murder with no bail recommended for his temporary liberty.
