One million trekkers expected: INC sets Yolanda aid walk



ONE million Iglesia Ni Cristo members are expected to walk for a cause on Feb. 15 from the Cultural Center of the Philippines complex to Luneta Park to help raise funds for the typhoon survivors in Leyte and Eastern Samar.


Bro. Nelson Lubao, station manager of Net21, a television network owned and operated by Eagle Broadcasting Corp., said the “Worldwide Walk for Yolanda” is organized by the Felix Y. Manalo Foundation.


“Each participant is asked of a P250 registration fee for the typhoon victims,” Lubao told Manila Standard.


Bro. Edwil Zabala, said the 1.6-kilometer trek will start at 7 a.m. at the CCP complex. At least 400,000 participants have already registered.


Organizers said motorists are advised to take alternate routes along the southbound lane of Andalucia from Fugoso to Quezon Boulevard; southbound lane of Espana from Lacson to Lerma; westbound lane of Lerma from España to Quezon Boulevard; stretch of Jones and McArthur bridge; northbound lane of road 10 from Moriones to Delpan bridge; north and southbound lane of Roxas Boulevard from Katigbak drive to P. Ocampo; east and westbound lane of P. Burgos from Ma. Orosa to Roxas Boulevard; east and westbound lane of TM Kalaw from MH del Pilar to Roxas Boulevard; westbound lane of Finance Road from Taft Avenue to P. Burgos; westbound lane of President Quirino from Adriatico to Mabini and MH del Pilar to Roxas Boulevard, and northbound lane of Ma. Orosa from TM Kalaw to P. Burgos.
