Manila extends P16-M assistance, relief aid to typhoon-hit LGUs

TACLOBAN CITY, Leyte - The city of Manila has extended P16-million assistance to selected local government units (LGUs) affected by super typhoon Yolanda. Mayor Joseph Estrada today turned over to Tacloban City P5 million together with five dump trucks full of relief goods.
Estrada also made site visits of the city’s devastated areas. Aside from Tacloban, the province of Leyte and Javier town each was allotted P5 million while the municipality of Guiuan in Eastern Samar has P1 million.
Estrada said that the provision of assistance was based on a resolution passed by the Sangguniang Panlungsod of theManila City government following an assessment conducted by their LGU on areas that are worst hit by Yolanda.
