The Public Employment Service Offices (PESO) of the various local government units in this province have been updating the skills registry database in their respective localities preparatory for any possible hiring. Job opportunities are expected to be generated in the next few months, as the rebuilding, reconstruction, and rehabilitation efforts in the areas badly hit by the monster storm Yolanda shall have been undertaken, according to Norman Ordiz, the PESO Manager in the province of Southern Leyte.
“A team from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) will be coming to Ormoc December 13 and 14 to start the series of jobs matching,” Ordiz, the Provincial Assessor, said during the Action Center Kapihan sa PIA Wedsnesday. He cannot state when will be the schedule for the province, saying only that places devastated by Yolanda were prioritized.
Ordiz thanked the ready support extended by the municipal and city mayors when he coordinated with them to update their respective skills registry system (SRS) through their respective PESO Managers. He called on barangay captains, the newly-elected and the re-elected, to urge unemployed but skilled individuals/workers in their barangays to contact him or their peso managers, to register skills at philjobnet, a DOLE-attached website, using a prepared registration online.
Or, in remote barangays where there is no internet, his office will be the one to register them on their behalf, Ordiz added.
