EV has enough rice supply, says NFA regional manager

Eastern Visayas has enough supply of NFA rice, said regional manager Vilma Zarroga of the Nationa Food Authority (NFA) here. Based on the rice situation report of the agency, the region has a total rice inventory of 2,143.6 bags of NFA rice, which is expected to last for 68 days.

“For the rice consumers there’s nothing to worry, as far as NFA stocks is concerned,” Zarraga said in a press statement.

The region’s inventories of rice in the region showed that households have a total of 1,337,431 bags. Rice stocks totaling 389,06 bags are with the commercial sector, while NFA has 417,176 bags. This rice inventory for the region is more than sufficient, Zarraga said. NFA showed that the present modal regional average retail price of well-milled rice and regular milled rice is peg at P40.67 and P37 per kilogram. In the month of August, rice was at an average of P39.42 per kilogram for well-milled rice and P36.08 per kilogram for regular milled rice, she added..

“Our stocks are of good quality iron-fortified rice that helps to combat iron-defiency anemia. We issue only good quality rice stocks to our 1, 655 NFA accredited retailer regionwide,” Zarraga said.
